Today's Word for the 25th

Prayer when in aguish...
Psalm 25:17
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
NIV
The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish.

God's Presence
The parallel verse to this in Psa. 41:12 refers to God's presence again. God's presence in our lives does so much that we cannot do for ourselves. We only gain this when we wait on Him in prayer.
Psalm 25:21
May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you.
pp.
Psalm 41:12 As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And You set me in Your presence forever.

The power of a soft tongue/voice instead of raising our voice when angry.
Proverbs 25:15
By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

Without self-control our lives are in shambles.
Proverbs 25:28
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

Excellent Things!

Proverbs 22
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. 18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. 19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. 20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, 21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Don't Devour One Another

Galatians 5:13-15
13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

5:13-15 The gospel is a doctrine according to godliness, 1Ti 6:3, and is so far from giving the least countenance to sin, that it lays us under the strongest obligation to avoid and subdue it. The apostle urges that all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. If Christians, who should help one another, and rejoice one another, quarrel, what can be expected but that the God of love should deny his grace, that the Spirit of love should depart, and the evil spirit, who seeks their destruction, should prevail? Happy would it be, if Christians, instead of biting and devouring one another on account of different opinions, would set themselves against sin in themselves, and in the places where they live.
